What to do in Winter!

At West Beach Parks, we love summer but we must admit we find winter pretty fantastic too. There is so much to do in our Great State of South Australia and it’s all on our doorstep.

With aerial park West Beach Adventure and family favourite West Beach Mini Golf already within the precinct, we appreciate you may be happy to stay on the doorstep.

For those who want to explore outside the precinct, there is no place better than the Western suburbs for all kinds of activities. With footy adventure centre AFL Max a short drive from West Beach Parks and Harbour Town Adelaide across the road, we’re perfectly placed for indoor sports and shopping – ideal activities when there is a chill in the air!

For those in need of an open air adventure, we have some of SA’s most beautiful beaches on our doorstep and recommend a stunning stroll along the pristine coast.

You can head as far as Seacliff or keep it short with a stroll to Glenelg. Check out Walking SA for more.

Glenelg, Brighton and Henley Beach are perfect for those looking to chill out with a coffee, grab a bite to eat or indulge in a little retail therapy.

All three beachside spots have some amazing boutique stores, restaurants of every cuisine and cosy coffee shops ideal for morning tea. Glenelg is also home to family favourite The Beachouse. Complete with waterslides and mini golf, the Beachouse will keep everyone entertained for hours/

For culture vultures, The Bay Discovery Centre in Glenelg is also a great place to visit when the weather is a little cooler. Not only a museum that chronicles historic Glenelg, the Centre is also packed with information on things to do in and around the area. From dolphin cruises and Segway adventures to historic house tours and sunset boat trips, there is always something for everyone! With a packed calendar, Glenelg is always ready with winter events and activities.

Port Adelaide is perfect for a meander through the markets and exploring all things maritime.

Adelaide CBD is wonderful in winter. Just a tram, train or bus ride away, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Museum of South Australia and iconic Adelaide Oval never disappoint. There is always something new to see, explore, learn and admire. The restaurants and shops offer hours of fun for all the family to enjoy! With boutique bars that line the laneways, restaurants found on rooftops and the stunning SkyCity development, the unique Adelaide skyline is ever changing.

You can always rely on Adelaide to put on a festival or two. The Adelaide Cabaret Festival kicks off on mid June. Quintessentially quirky, there are shows to delight, astound and amaze.

Illuminate Adelaide is also another experience not to be missed. At night, the city will come to life with light with installations across the city. From free installations for all to enjoy to special events at iconic Adelaide locations, Illuminate Adelaide will dazzle and amaze all ages. With a calendar that includes that a Van Gogh exhibition and Light Creatures at the Zoo, what’s not to love? Ice skating is a firm favourite in winter and luckily SA does not disappoint. The Winter Village at Torrens Showground boasts a village of igloos to relax in, food, drinks and an ice rink. It is a great day out for families and friends. Sound good?

What’s a winter escape without a winery or two on the itinerary? We are just a couple of hours from all of SA’s stunning wine regions and there is nothing better than sitting beside a warm fire and sipping a winter red.
